Rehabilitation Services provided by The Salvation Army's Adult Rehabilitation Centers are
designed to address the needs of each individual who is seeking assistance in dealing with
primary and possibly secondary handicaps that effect that individual's functioning level in
society. The majority of those admitted to the Adult Rehabilitation Centers are described as
chemically dependent or substance abusers. Although addiction behaviors may be the
primary problem, secondary problems which are usually symptoms of addictive behaviors
other mental disorders are also addressed. The rehabilitation process is seen by many
rehabilitation teams as holistic. A person's physical, psychological, and spiritual
characteristics are all considered in terms of the individual's relationship to God, to self, to
family and society. |

The rehabilitation program through which this is accomplished is developed by the center's
staff and includes spiritual education and guidance, long term residential service, medical
and psychological assistance, meaningful work therapy, individual and group counseling, 12
Step groups, family counseling, chemical dependency education, re-entry counseling and
guidance, social skills development, vocational training and counseling, transitional living
opportunities, recreational and leisure time activities, health issues, HIV education and
testing and special issues groups. |
